Airflow is a cleaning system that combines warm water, air and a very fine cleaning powder into a controlled, gentle stream. Rather than scraping plaque and surface staining off with a metal instrument, the stream lifts it away — including from spots that are genuinely hard to reach with a traditional scaler, like around brackets, aligner attachments, under a bridge, or around an implant.
The powder itself can be adjusted depending on the job — a gentler option for gum tissue and implant surfaces, and a slightly more effective option for stubborn surface staining on tooth enamel. Your dentist or hygienist chooses the right setting for what your teeth actually need, rather than using one setting for everyone.
