Our commitment

Magical Smiles wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard-only navigation or screen magnification.

The standard being worked toward is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. This is the target the site is built and checked against — it is a goal, not a claim that the site fully conforms. The known gaps are described honestly below.

What is actually tested

This website is checked with automated accessibility testing as part of its build. Specifically:

  • Pages are scanned with an automated accessibility engine (axe-core) at three viewport widths — mobile (390px), tablet (768px) and desktop (1440px).
  • The automated gate requires that there be no violations rated “serious” or “critical” on the rules that are enabled.
  • Structural accessibility — roles, labels, focus behaviour and keyboard interaction — is covered by these automated checks.

Automated testing catches many issues but cannot catch everything. It does not, by itself, establish full WCAG conformance, and it is not a substitute for testing with real assistive technologies. Manual and assistive-technology testing continues as the site is improved; known gaps are listed below rather than claimed away.

Known accessibility issues

The following limitations are known and are stated openly rather than claimed away:

  • Colour contrast.Parts of the site's approved colour palette do not meet WCAG AA colour-contrast ratios. In particular, the “honey” accent colour on the cream background measures approximately 2.49:1 and the muted body-text colour approximately 4.10:1, both below the AA threshold for their use. Because of this, the automated colour-contrast rule is currently disabled in the site's accessibility checks. Contrast remains a known, open improvement item for the design system.
  • Third-party embeds.Some features — such as the online booking calendars, website forms and chat widget — are provided by third parties and are not fully within the practice's control. Their accessibility may vary.
  • Automated-only coverage. As noted above, current release testing is automated. Some barriers that affect real users may not yet be identified.

This statement does not claim that the website fully conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA. It describes the standard being worked toward and the gaps that are currently known.
