Children's dentistry

Their smile is still growing up.

From around age three to the end of the teens, your child's teeth, bite and jaw change faster than they ever will again. A gentle six-monthly check-up and clean is simply how we keep watch while everything is still easy to guide — no rush, no fuss.

Why it matters

A stitch in time, quite literally.

The childhood years are busy ones for a little mouth. Baby teeth arrive and make way for adult ones, the jaw widens, the bite settles, and habits — good and not-so-good — quietly take hold. Most of it goes beautifully on its own.

Seeing your child regularly just means the small things stay small, and that anything worth a closer look gets noticed early, while it's still simple to manage. Often the most valuable part isn't the cleaning at all — it's that your child slowly learns the dentist is a calm, familiar, even slightly fun part of the year.

The honest question

What does six months actually look like for a child?

It's a long time in a small mouth. New teeth appear, others loosen, and routines either settle or slip. Twice-yearly visits mean we meet those changes as they happen — and your child gets comfortable with us long before they ever need anything more than a quick polish.

The alternative isn't dramatic. It's mostly just another half-year of guessing, and a first proper visit that ends up happening when someone's already sore and worried — instead of on an easy, ordinary day when everyone's relaxed. We'd rather meet your child on the easy days.

Two different jobs

Why not just a clean?

It's a fair question — and the honest answer is that the clean and the check-up do two genuinely different things. One keeps the teeth tidy; the other keeps an eye on how everything's coming along.

The clean

Tidying up

A gentle clean lifts the soft plaque and harder build-up a toothbrush can't quite reach, then polishes everything smooth. If it suits your child, we may apply fluoride to help strengthen young enamel. It's the maintenance — and it feels good.

The check-up

The thinking part

This is the bit only a dentist can do: looking at how the teeth, bite and jaw are developing, watching baby teeth make way for adult ones, noticing anything early, and chatting through brushing, snacks, or habits like thumb-sucking if they come up. The clean keeps things tidy; the check-up is the thinking.

What to expect

What a visit actually feels like.

No surprises, no scary words. Here's how a typical check-up and clean unfolds, step by step, so you and your child both know what's coming.

Settling in

We say hello, show your child the chair and the "magic" sunglasses, and let them have a look around so nothing feels like a surprise. Little ones are welcome to bring a favourite toy. There's no rush to get started.

2

A gentle look & a clean

We count the teeth, check how the bite and new teeth are coming along, and give everything a soft polish — with fluoride if it's right for your child. We explain each step in plain words as we go, and we move at your child's pace.

A quick chat with you

Before you leave, we talk through what we saw, anything to keep an eye on, and a few simple tips for brushing and snacks at home. No jargon — just a clear picture of where things are and what (if anything) comes next.

About 30 to 45 minutes, usually all in one visit. And if your child's simply having a wobbly day, we slow right down or stop — there's no script we have to finish. Designed to feel calm and comfortable, every time.

Why families stay

Gentle care for the whole family.

Led by principal dentist Dr Rachna Yadav, our clinics across Melbourne's west are built around families — calm, unhurried, and used to little visitors.

01 Unhurried

We keep children's visits gentle and paced for them — never a production line. If today isn't the day for the polish, that's completely okay.

02 Familiar faces

Seeing the same warm team twice a year is how the chair stops being scary. Familiarity does most of the reassuring for us.

03 Built for families

Three clinics across the west, kid-friendly spaces, and appointments that fit around school and siblings. Bring the whole crew.

What you're really paying for

A child who grows up thinking the dentist is just a normal, easy part of the year.

Years from now, the cleaning won't be the thing that mattered. It'll be that your child learned to brush without a battle, felt comfortable in the chair, and never picked up the quiet dread so many adults carry from a single rough visit as a kid. That head-start is hard to put a price on — so let's talk about the price honestly.

What a visit costs depends on your child's age and what they need on the day, and we'll always tell you before we begin. Many children are also eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which can cover a portion of routine dental care for eligible families, subject to current government terms. Ask us and we'll check whether your child qualifies.

CDBS eligibility is determined by Services Australia, not by the clinic. Benefit amounts and conditions are set by the Australian Government and may change — please confirm current details with us or Services Australia.
