Children's dentistry, made small.

From a very first visit to the end of the teens — calm, unhurried children's dentistry across Caroline Springs, Bacchus Marsh and Point Cook. First visits are introduction, not treatment. Check-ups keep the small things small. And if your child is anxious, tell us — we'll slow down.

Gentle, unhurried, familiar · Care for children of every age, from their very first visit

Unhurried, familiar faces — seeing the same warm team twice a year is how the chair stops being scary.

Why it matters

The early years are the easy years to look after.

When children grow up seeing the dentist as somewhere calm and ordinary, check-ups stay simple.

Seeing your child regularly just means the small things stay small, and that anything worth a closer look gets noticed early, while it's still simple to manage. From around age three to the end of the teens, your child's teeth, bite and jaw change faster than they ever will again — a gentle six-monthly check-up is simply how we keep watch.

Often the most valuable part isn't the cleaning at all — it's that your child slowly learns the dentist is a calm, familiar, even slightly fun part of the year.

If they're nervous

Tell us — we'll slow down.

“Please feel free to let our staff know if your child is extra anxious, needs special attention, or if this is their first visit and you'd like us to make it extra special.”

If your child gets anxious about new places, or if they've had a difficult visit before, please let us know. When you book. When you walk in. Any time you like. We'll book extra time, plan a quieter visit, and adjust the pace and the order.

If your child only manages to sit on the chair on day one, that's a successful first visit. We'll build from there.

Medicare & the CDBS

Eligible children can be bulk-billed.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a Medicare program that covers basic dental for eligible children. In short, your child needs to be aged 0–17 for at least one day of the calendar year, eligible for Medicare, and part of a family receiving a qualifying government payment for at least part of the year — most commonly Family Tax Benefit Part A.

Tell us when you book and we'll check it for you — no paperwork stress. For covered services and eligible children there's no out-of-pocket cost, subject to Medicare eligibility and program terms. Read about bulk-billed eligible care →

CDBS eligibility is determined by Services Australia, not by the clinic. The scheme covers general and preventive care — it doesn't cover orthodontics (like braces or Invisalign), cosmetic work, or treatment in hospital.

Good questions

The things parents usually ask.

The Australian Dental Association suggests around your child's first birthday, or when their first tooth appears — whichever comes first. That said, the right time is also the time it feels right for your family. If your child is older and has never been, that's fine too. We'll meet them where they are.
That's okay — really. We don't force the issue. Plenty of children take a few visits before they're comfortable opening up for a stranger, and that's a normal part of the process. Building the comfort is the appointment.
That's very common, and we're used to it. We move at your child's pace, explain everything as we go, and there's no pressure to do more than they're ready for on the day. Our aim is simply for the next visit to feel easier than this one.
For eligible children, the basic dental care covered by the Child Dental Benefits Schedule is bulk-billed — meaning we claim the benefit directly from Medicare and there's no out-of-pocket cost for covered services. It depends on your child's eligibility and remaining balance, which we're happy to check. If anything sits outside the scheme, we'll explain any cost before starting.
Yes — and it often helps. Watching an older sibling go first can take a lot of the fear out of it for a younger one. Let us know when you book and we'll arrange the timing.
No — orthodontics like braces and Invisalign, along with cosmetic work and hospital treatment, sit outside the scheme. If your child needs orthodontic care, give us a call and we'll talk you through the right options.
When you're ready

Ready when they are.

Book your child's visit online, or call and we'll check eligibility and find a time that suits. No pressure — just a gentle first step.

This page is general information about children's dentistry at Magical Smiles. It isn't medical advice — what's right for your child depends on their individual needs, which we'll always talk through with you before anything happens.
